West Yorkshire Police have released a description of a man they would like to speak to in connection to a unprovoked attack on a young man near Deansgate Locks.
Shortly after 3am on Saturday 1st October 2016, the 18-year-old victim was stood on the road outside Deansgate Locks next to a large group of men and women.
An altercation took place between the group and a man ran towards the victim and slashed him across the face, with what is believed to be a utility knife. The victim was taken to hospital where he needed stitches and will now be scarred for life.
The offender is described as a white man in his early 20s, about 5ft 8ins, with dark short ‘spikey’ hair.
Detective Constable Donna Gilman of Greater Manchester Police said: “This horrific attack has left a young man scarred permanently. He was not involved in the altercation and happened to be stood next to a group who got involved in an argument. If you recognise the description of the suspect, or have any information, I would urge you to contact the police on 101.”
