An impatient driver who killed a cyclist on a road in Brighouse was sentenced yesterday, 10 April 2017.
58-year-old Philip Roper, from Brighouse, was sentenced to seven months in jail, suspended for a year. He admitted to causing the death of William Stoker, a 55-year-old from Huddersfield, on 14 January 2016.
The tragic incident occurred on Elland Road when Mr Roper attempted an overtaking manoeuvre and knocked Mr Stoker to the ground, causing fatal injuries.
As part of his suspended sentence, Roper is under home curfew and has also been banned from driving for two years.
