Over 800 cannabis plants have been seized from the streets of Bradford in just one day following a raid by city centre officers.
The Bradford City NPT has thanked communities for their ‘critical’ support in helping officers mount a raid earlier this week, resulting in cannabis worth several hundred thousand pounds being seized.
Officers attended at a commercial premises on Thornton Road on Monday October 18 and located 469 adult plans and 430 plants in a small state of growth.
The building was made safe and police enquiries are now ongoing into the matter.
The raid at the premises follows a seizure from another property on the same street in February 2021 in which 152 plants were recovered.
The raid has taken place during the Bradford City NPT’s ongoing Safety In The City Campaign with Bradford BID in October which is focussed on encouraging residents to report all types of crime and on also cutting low level offending.
Discussing the drugs seizure, Inspector Richard Baildon of the Bradford City NPT, said: “The information provided by communities is critical in the fight against the organised production of drugs and I want to thank residents for their support.
“We are now conducting further enquiries into this significant seizure and continue to appeal for any information about drugs production in the city centre as I can promise every piece of information is reviewed, assessed and where possible developed to give officers the evidence to obtain search warrants.”
He added: “My team are also of course continuing to work with Bradford BID to encourage the reporting of all forms of crime and anti-social behaviour through our Report It campaign as part of our Safer in the City project this October.
“If you have any information about crime in our city please come forward and let us know where our resources need to be focussed. Reports can be made to us at the Bradford City NPT on 101, online at www.westyorkshire.police.uk/101livechat or in person to one of the team on patrol.
