A burglar has been jailed for two years and four months after trying to kick down the door of one terrified resident at an apartment block in Leeds before stealing coins from the laundry room of the same complex.
32 year old Vijay Ram of no fixed address tried to kick down the door of a flat at Britannia House on York Place, Leeds on July 6 this year before going down to the basement area where he conned his way into the laundry room before stealing cash from the washing machines.
Ram pleaded guilty to burglary and attempted burglary. Jailing him Recorder Simon Eckersley said that he must have terrified the flat occupant as Ram violently tried to enter his home.
