A bring-and-share picnic, street games and other fun activities marks the opening of a new urban park in Bradford today (Wednesday, 26 October).
The Chain Street Linear Park is a new urban space created for local people out of a derelict area, featuring attractive raised grass mounds and oak cubed seating.
The Linear Park is part of the wider regeneration of the Goitside area on the outskirts of the city centre, and follows the completion of over 30 new homes at nearby Baptist Court.
The homes and the park have been supported by Bradford Council, the Homes and Communities Agency, Incommunities, Quality Social Housing (QSH) which provides financial backing for affordable homes, and the private sector.
Coun Alex Ross-Shaw, Bradford Council's Executive Member for Regeneration, Planning and Transport, said: "We hope to bring about a strong sense of community in this newly regenerated area so we hope the Linear Park will prove to be a good focal point and a great environment for the local residents to enjoy.”
