Gareth Gates is to open a ‘stammer school’ in Bradford this autumn.
The East Bowling-born singer, who shot to fame in the talent show Pop Idol, will head a three-day conference at the Life Centre in Bradford, working with speech therapists and holding music and performance sessions to help children who suffer from the condition.
It was while at Dixons City Academy that Gates discovered singing could help with his own speech difficulties. He now regularly features in musical stage productions.
