Bradford Council has joined the Environment Agency’s Extended Floodline Service, to provide a single point of contact for information and guidance for residents about flooding.
The Extended Floodline Service is a telephone service which uses agents from the Environment Agency to provide residents with up-to-date local information about what to do before, during and after flooding.
This service means that residents have a single point of contact for information about highways, help for vulnerable people, culverts, gullies, groundwater flooding, how to clean up after a flood as well as information about local community flood plans that are in place in their area.
Bradford Council has worked with the Environment Agency to provide local information for the service which is also available online. The new service also allows the council to update the information as things change.
Coun Alex Ross-Shaw, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Planning, Transportation and highways, said: “We would urge residents to make sure they are as prepared as possible in the event of flooding, by finding out about their own flood risk, signing up for warnings and make sure they know what to do if flooding happens.”
