Students at Bradford College are able to scrutinise their tutors’ work with the opening of a new exhibition.
More than 25 members of staff from Bradford School of Art and the Northern School of Creative Industries are displaying their work in the latest show to be held in the college’s Dye House Gallery.
The collection of works range from knitted meats, delicate ceramics, striking 3D anatomical wall sculptures, and ghoulish special effects makeup designs as well as fashion and textile displays, photography and paintings.
Carole Griffiths, art lecturer, said: “The response from staff to participate in this show has been incredible. The hidden talents of all have finally been exposed.
“Sometimes we do not also recognise the research and practice of all those who contribute to the learning environment. As research coordinator, I wanted to celebrate this and the show certainly reveals the eclectic expertise we have within the Faculty of Arts.
“The show is by all the staff in the Faculty of Arts, showcasing current research and practice. This includes all the technicians who support teaching.
“The exhibition highlights the extent of all the shared skills which acknowledge the talent and expertise within the institution. It is also an opportunity for the students to see beyond what is taught and to understand the continued development of art practice produced by the lecturers. Creativity doesn’t stop it continues.”
The show is on at the college’s Dye House Gallery until Friday 2 November. The gallery is open to the public and entry is free and it is open weekdays until 4.00pm.
