A 39 year old man who kept for himself benefits totalling more than £300,000 which were actually meant for the care of his parents and two brothers has been locked up for 45 months.
Bradford Crown Court heard that Shajad Hussain, of Primary way, Undercliffe received almost £370,000 from Bradford Council to provide care for his parents and two brothers between May 2007 and December 2013, but only about £56,000 of payments was actually spent on what was originally intended and the rest he cruelly pocketed for himself.
He was convicted of five charges of fraud by abuse of position and was sentenced to 45 months in prison.
A timetable to reclaim the money under the Proceeds of Crime Act was drawn up, with a hearing scheduled for December 16.
