The magical worlds of Bagpuss, The Clangers and other childhood characters are coming to Bradford as part of a major exhibition opening at Cartwright Hall Gallery in August.
Created by Oliver Postgate and Peter Firmin, and filmed in a barn and an adapted pigsty in rural Kent, these characters brought new life to children’s television in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
On loan from the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the exhibition brings together characters from Smallfilms - Firmin and Postgate’s influential and much-loved production company, and includes films which haven’t been seen for decades.
