Armed police detained a man in Silsden yesterday, 13 June.
It is believed officers were searching for a man in a suit with a weapon.
Police confirmed they received a call at around 9.08am, reporting a man with a firearm by the canal on Hainsworth Road at Silsden.
The man was described as white and around 30-years-old.
Witnesses said that there was a heavy police presence in the village as well as a helicopter at the scene.
West Yorkshire Police said that they were aware of speculation on social media linking the discovery of a man’s body in Apperley Bridge to the report of a man with a firearm in Silsden.
However, they said that they are not treating the incidents as connected.
