Police have released images of a man they would like to speak to in connection with a rape at a nightclub in Manchester city centre.
Shortly before 2.45am on Sunday, 29 May 2016, officers were called to Ark Nightclub on Whitworth Street to a report that an 18-year-old woman had been raped inside the venue.
An investigation was launched by GMP’s Serious Sexual Offences Unit and officers are now trying to identify the man pictured to help them with their enquiries.
It is believed that a large number of people had been attending the venue to watch Oxide and Neutrino perform.
Detective Constable Dave Jones, from GMP’s Serious Sexual Offences Unit, said: “This was extremely distressing for the victim and our specially trained officers continue to offer her support through this understandably difficult time.
“We have been following a number of enquiries since that morning and we are now trying to identify the man pictured so we can speak to him as part of our investigation.
“The venue would have been particularly busy as a large number of people attended especially to see Oxide and Neutrino perform and I think someone will be able to recognise this man.
“If you do recognise him, or if you were at the venue that night and may have seen something, I would urge you to call police or Crimestoppers if you wish to remain anonymous. Even the smallest bit of information could prove vital to this investigation.”
Anybody with information should contact police on 101 quoting incident number 364 of 29/05/16 or the Serious Sexual Offences Unit on 0161 856 1911 between 7am and 11pm. Alternatively, information can also be passed on to the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
