Police are appealing for witnesses after a number of men attempted to steal passing vehicles during rush hour.
At around 7.15am on Thursday 14 July 2016 GMP received a number of reports of men attempting to get into vehicles that were stationery at junctions.
The incidents took place around the Chester Road Roundabout and Mancunian Way within minutes of each other.
One woman was sat in her car at some traffic lights when two men tried to open the doors of the vehicle.
When they were unable to open them, they used a small metal object and attempted to smash the windows and doors.
The men are described as two black males, of slim builds and around 6ft 6ins tall. They were wearing dark clothing, balaclavas and gloves.
Another woman was driving at around 20mph when two men jumped on her car and attempted to steal it.
One of the men is described as white, of a slim build wearing a black hoody, black jeans, light coloured trainers and a balaclava. He is also described as having brown hair which was seen before he put the balaclava on.
The other man is described as black, of a slim build wearing a black hoody and balaclava.
Detective Constable Donna Gilman of GMP’s City of Manchester Team, said: “This is a series of frightening, calculated attacks targeting vehicles during rush hour.
“Fortunately none of the victims of these attacks were injured but they have all been left extremely shaken and are frightened to get back into their vehicles.
“I’m appealing to anyone who may have seen the incidents or the men fitting these descriptions to contact us as soon as possible.”
