Police are appealing for witnesses after a man is attacked with a meat cleaver in Wythenshawe.
Shortly before 11.20am on Tuesday 14 June 2016, police were called to reports of an incident on Cornishway in Woodhouse Park, Wythenshawe.
Officers attended and found a man with serious injuries after he had been attacked following a collision on Cornishway.
Police are now investigating.
Witnesses have described a red Volkswagon Golf crashing into a gate post on Cornishway. The Golf was being followed by a black BMW, whose occupants then got out of the car and attacked a male passenger of the Golf with a meat cleaver.
The attackers then got back into the BMW and drove off at speed.
Police are now appealing for anyone who may have seen either car in the area before the incident to get in touch.
Detective Inspector Tony Lea from GMP’s South Manchester Neighbourhood Team said: “This is a baffling incident and we are keen to work out exactly what happened and what lead to this vicious attack.
“We are keen to identify the black BMW and the occupants so we are appealing for anyone with any information to come forward. We would also like to hear from anyone who may have seen the red Golf before the incident.
“It is shocking that such an attack could happen in broad daylight. I’m sure someone will have seen the two vehicles before the attack.
“The man is now being treated in hospital for his injuries, I hope he can go on to make a full recovery.”
