Airedale NHS Foundation Trust nurse Chloe Taylor has been named a finalist for Neonatal Nurse of the Year, recognising her work supporting families through trauma-informed care.
National recognition for outstanding care
Chloe Taylor, Risk and Governance Nurse for Women, Children and Specialist Services at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, has been shortlisted as a finalist for Neonatal Nurse of the Year.
The Neonatal Nurses Association award celebrates inspirational nurses who make an extraordinary difference — from improving care for babies to supporting families and colleagues.
Championing trauma-informed care
Chloe, from Eastburn, has earned national attention for her work on trauma-informed care — an approach that recognises how trauma can affect individuals and focuses on meeting emotional and psychological needs as part of neonatal care.
Her initiatives aim to ensure that families feel supported and understood during their time on the neonatal unit.
Earlier this year, Chloe received the RCN Foundation Leathersellers’ Award for Outstanding Achievement in supporting children and young people’s mental health. Her trauma-informed care project has also been shortlisted for a Nursing Times Award.
Humble in recognition
On her latest shortlisting, Chloe said:
“I feel incredibly humbled to have been recognised by the RCN, Nursing Times and now the Neonatal Nursing Association, all within the last 12 months. I am completely shocked.
This work focuses on what we can do as neonatal staff to help with trauma and builds on the Trauma-Informed Care module I completed at Leeds Beckett University.
Not only has this approach enhanced care for families, but it has also helped to shift our team culture. We are now more open, reflective and confident in discussing trauma and emotional wellbeing.
I remain deeply committed to growing this work, continuing to learn and collaborating with others to ensure that no family feels unsupported during their neonatal journey.”
“A great honour”
Katie Gallagher, Chair of the Neonatal Nurses Association, said:
“To be named a finalist for this prestigious award is a great honour. Chloe’s commitment to excellence and the inspiration she brings to our neonatal community is worthy of celebration.”
