The Bradford Dragon Boat Festival got underway today, 5 May, with youth teams being the first to take to the water.
The festival, now in its second year, has expanded to three days. The Youth Championships were contested today, with The Charity Festival due to start tomorrow. The final day, on Sunday, will see corporate teams battle it out in their dragon boats to become victors.
Racing is taking place on the River Aire at Robert’s Park in Saltaire.
Originating from China and with a 2000 year rich history, dragon boats were brought to Bradford last year to create one of the largest of such events in the UK.
