A 23 year old has been jailed for 12 months after he pleaded guilty after being caught driving at more than 120mph on the Bingley bypass and fleeing from Police at high speeds and at times of the wrong side of the road.
Bradford Crown Court heard that Police spotted Haroon Muhmood just after midnight on July 16 in a Mercedes A class car driving at an estimated 123 mph on the Bingley bypass.
Officers attempted to stop him but failed and the court was told that during the subsequent Police chase he at one point drove at 80mph in a 30mph zone and drove on the wrong side of the road.
Muhmood, of Downham Street, Blackburn, Lancashire, pleaded guilty, at the first opportunity, to dangerous driving.
The Judge imposed a sentence of 18 months, reduced to 12 months because of Muhmood’s early guilty plea.
He was also disqualified from driving for two years and ordered to take an extended retest.
