1991 film Sadak, which featured the poignant love story of Pooja and Ravi, is all set to get a sequel titled Sadak 2.
And yet again, it will be Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhatt reprising the lead roles in the movie being produced by Mukesh Bhatt. Sharing details about her comeback film, actor Pooja Bhatt posted a cute picture of Dutt and Mahesh Bhatt on her Instagram account with the caption, “And the smile says it all! Thank you @maheshfilm for the most heartfelt screenplay with a narration to match! #Sadak2 is certainly your ode to @duttsanjay if ever there was one! This story immortalises Ravi and especially his overwhelming love for Pooja… a much needed love story for the ‘unfeeling’ times we live in! #Sadak2 #puresoul #.”
Earlier too, in May when indianexpress.com asked the actress about the sequel of the hit film, she said, “We are exploring the opportunities for a sequel to Sadak. But it’s too early to talk about the script and rest of the casting. We do realise that we have to live up to the expectations of those loyal fans who have given Sadak the cult status it has… which is why we are treading slowly and will only steam ahead when we are absolutely confident about not only the script and casting but also the music. After all who can forget the music of Sadak!” Back then, Pooja also said that Sadak 2 cannot happen without Sanjay Dutt.
In the latest development, it has been known that the film will presumably reach the theaters in August 2018. Also, according to the reports, the film will have a young couple joining Pooja and Sanjay. Talking about the project, Pooja told Mumbai Mirror, “Sadak 2 will reflect the special relationship Mahesh Bhatt and Sanjay Dutt share. While my character is unique, and this film like Aashiqui 2 makes you believe in love at a time when it’s so easy to walk away from a relationship, it is going to be about Sanju from the first frame to the last. It’s my father’s ode to him.” Adding to it, Pooja also mentioned about the big challenge to cast the young couple. “It can’t be a chocolate-boy hero, we are looking for a boy with a striking personality and a girl who has the emotional resonance of Pooja and Alia Bhatt,” said Pooja.
