Shabana Azmi has celebrated an extraordinary milestone in husband Javed Akhtar's career – 62 years since the legendary writer and lyricist arrived in Mumbai with just 27 paise and dreams of making it in the film industry.
Veteran actor Shabana Azmi has marked 62 years since Javed Akhtar first arrived in Mumbai to begin the journey that would eventually make him one of Indian cinema's most celebrated writers and lyricists.
Akhtar arrived at Bombay Central station on 4 October 1964, with Shabana recalling that the young aspiring writer had just 27 naye paise in his pocket but big ambitions for his future.
More than six decades later, Akhtar's career has encompassed some of Hindi cinema's most famous films and songs, first becoming renowned for his screenwriting partnership with Salim Khan before establishing himself as one of Bollywood's best-known lyricists.
Shabana marked the anniversary on social media on Sunday, sharing a photograph of a young Javed and remembering the beginning of his extraordinary journey in Mumbai.
