Bollywood superstar Ranbir Kapoor has revealed that his first reaction to being offered the role of Lord Ram in the upcoming film Ramayana was fear, admitting he questioned whether he was worthy of portraying such a revered figure.
The actor discussed his experience during a promotional appearance on Kaun Banega Crorepati, alongside co-stars Sai Pallavi and Ravie Dubey.
In a promotional clip reported on Monday 26 October, host Amitabh Bachchan asked the cast about their reactions to being chosen for their respective roles.
Ranbir reveals his initial doubts
Ranbir explained that portraying Lord Ram was much more than an ordinary acting assignment because of the character's spiritual significance to millions of people.
He questioned whether he could meet the expectations associated with the role.
However, he said those initial fears eventually developed into gratitude, as he began to appreciate the opportunity to learn from the character.
Fatherhood changed his perspective
Ranbir also revealed that the opportunity arrived around the time he became a father.
He described the experience as particularly meaningful, saying that working on the film encouraged him to reflect on his own life and become a better person.
The actor explained that understanding the values associated with Lord Ram had become an important part of his personal journey.
Sai Pallavi discusses playing Sita
During the same appearance, Sai Pallavi spoke about her approach to portraying Sita.
