A schoolgirl from Otley has received a coveted title with her inspiring poem.
Kitty, an 11-year-old pupil at Otley All Saints C of E Primary School, was among 25,000 children who entered the second annual Premier League Writing Stars poetry competition.
Her entry We May Be, written to the competition’s theme of diversity, was declared “the best in Yorkshire”.
The judging was carried out by a panel including Waterstones Children’s Laureate Lauren Child, former Premier League footballer Rio Ferdinand, singer-songwriter Olly Murs and poet Joseph Coelho.
