A Bradford charity is looking after two kittens which have been "coloured in" with what is believed to be permanent marker.
Police dropped the four-week-old kittens, called Smurf and Shrek, at Bradford Cat Watch Rescue on Monday after being found at a property in the city which its believed officers had visited for another animal welfare issue involving a dog and drug related offences. The cruel and possibly lethal act is not thought to have been caused by children.
The charity said it was bathing the kittens in the hope the ink could be gradually removed after what the charity called “a dreadful act of cruelty” and went onto say “who knows what damage this may have caused.” The charity website said “we often consider ourselves to be unshockable..... we have dealt with most situations but this is a first.”
