The makers of Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia's upcoming film The Vvaan: Force of the Forrest have acquired rights to a recording of ‘Aigiri Nandini’ after musician Sargam Vaish alleged it had been used in the film's trailer without his permission.
The makers of upcoming Bollywood film The Vvaan: Force of the Forrest have moved to resolve a music copyright dispute involving a recording featured in the movie's trailer.
Musician and composer Sargam Vaish alleged that his master recording of ‘Aigiri Nandini’ had been used in the trailer without his permission. He publicly raised the issue on 20 September, saying he had not provided consent or a No Objection Certificate for its use.
Vaish said the recording had originally been created for a separate project and that he held the master rights. He claimed approximately 25 seconds of his work could be heard in the trailer.
The situation has now moved quickly towards a resolution.
According to reports published today, the legal team from Balaji Motion Pictures met Vaish on the evening of 21 September and subsequently acquired the synchronisation, or "sync", rights needed to use the recording alongside the film's visuals.
Vaish said representatives had been cooperative during the discussions and that the matter had been resolved smoothly. Separate reporting says the filmmakers will also give appropriate credit for the music.
However, there remains some uncertainty over exactly how the recording originally reached the production team. Vaish said the source was still being investigated, while another account reported that test music including the recording had previously been sent to Balaji Telefilms and was subsequently used accidentally.
The Vvaan: Force of the Forrest stars Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia and is directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra. The film is scheduled for release in cinemas on 25 September 2026.
