Iftikar Khan (33), of Baring Avenue, Bradford, was arrested on 20 February 2016 when officers from the NCA’s Armed Operations Unit observed him loading a holdall into the boot of his vehicle on Quarry Street. When the vehicle was stopped and searched in Canal Road, Bradford, 30 kilos of Class A drugs were seized.
Forensic examination revealed the haul was made up of 21 kilos of heroin, four kilos of cocaine and five kilos that consisted of a mix of heroin, cocaine and cutting agents.
Khan was taken to Bradford Police Station where he was later charged with conspiracy to supply Class A drugs. He appeared at Leeds Magistrates Court this morning and has been remanded in custody until his next hearing at Leeds Crown Court on 20 April.
Following Khan’s arrest, a number of properties were also searched on Quarry Street where officers found two cannabis cultivations and material consistent with the large scale supply of controlled drugs.
A 47-year-old man and a 57-year-old man, both from Bradford, were also arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply Class A and B drugs. Both have been bailed until 20 April 2016.
Brent Lyon, Operations Manager for the NCA’s Armed Operations Unit said:
“Working with our colleagues from West Yorkshire Police, we believe we have disrupted an organised crime group responsible for supplying Class A drugs within the community. These arrests are significant and our investigation continues.”
