A local Bradford MP has given her support to a family calling for a re-investigation into the death of a 16 year old boy who was killed by a train.
An inquest earlier this year concluded that Hasan Jabbaar died accidentally, the Coroner ruled there was no evidence of any third party involvement and that Hasan had “inadvertently strayed” on to the tracks near Shipley Railway station.
But unsatisfied Hasan’s parents, Asia Rashid and Mohammed Bilal, of Rossefield Road, Heaton, Bradford, have complained to British Transport Police about delays and mistakes in the investigation, including CCTV coverage being missed, and that two important witnesses did not turn up at the inquest.
They are desperate to understand what happened in a vital missing hour, between Hasan leaving a mosque and being hit by the train at 7.10pm on Bonfire Night 2014.
Now Bradford West MP Naz Shah is asking Police too to look again at the case. She said: “I have written to the Chief Constable of British Transport Police. I will be asking that the police look into this tragic incident once again.
Ms Shah added she was appealing to anyone with information, especially young friends who knew Hasan, and how he got to the tracks that night, to contact British Transport Police or West Yorkshire Police.
