Police from the Major Collision Enquiry team are continuing to appeal for witnesses following a collision last week which left a pregnant woman seriously ill and sadly her unborn child died.
The incident occurred around 7.30pm on Thursday evening (17/3) when a blue Vauxhall Corsa and Silver Ford Focus were in collision at the junction of Blacker Road and St Johns Road in Huddersfield.
The front seat passenger of the Ford Focus, a 27-year-old woman, was treated at the scene and taken to Leeds General Infirmary with serious injuries. She remains in hospital.
The front seat passenger of the Vauxhall Corsa, a 24-year-old woman, who was heavily pregnant was treated at the scene and taken to Leeds General Infirmary. The unborn child died following the incident. The woman remains in hospital in a serious condition.
The driver of the Vauxhall Corsa also a 24-year-old woman sustained minor injuries and two child passengers (also in the Corsa) were left with minor injuries
Sergeant Ann Drury, of the Major Collision Enquiry Team, said: "This incident has claimed the life of an unborn child, and I would urgently appeal to anyone who was in the area last Thursday evening and may have seen either vehicle prior to the incident, or witnessed the collision itself to come forward. It is believed that people in the locality may have taken photos or video of the aftermath and I would ask that they come forward with any footage. Three men aged 24, 29 and 35 were been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and have been released on police bail.
