Four men have been arrested over illicit cigarettes in Bolton.
Greater Manchester Police assisted HMRC to search a number of addresses in Bolton yesterday morning (18 April) as part of an investigation into the unlawful supply and sale of cigarettes.
Four men were arrested on suspicion of fraudulent evasion of excise duty and money laundering. They were taken into custody for questioning.
Detective Inspector David Johnston said: “Taking positive action against crime in our community is always a good thing, and we will continue to investigate the illegal sale of cigarettes.
“If you have information about the illegal supply of cigarettes in your area, I’d encourage you to contact police, as it’s this detail that helps us to take such strong action against these crimes.”
