Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in the Slaithwaite area.
The Major Collision and Enquiry Team would like to speak to anyone who saw or has information about the incident which took place at about 9.15am today (Thursday 3 January) at the junction of Holt Head Road and Varley Road.
It took place after a blue Peugeot 3008 collided with a dry stone wall.
The 76-year-old male driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to Leeds General Infirmary.
A female passenger, 74, was seriously injured in the incident and, despite medical attention, died at the scene.
The road was closed while police investigation work took place and the vehicle was recovered.
Sergeant Carl Quinn of the Major Collision and Enquiry Team, said: “We are continuing to investigate this fatal collision and would like to speak to anyone who saw the incident or who saw the blue Peugeot in the moments just prior to it taking place.
