Officers are appealing for witnesses after two masked men robbed a cash-in-transit driver in Cheetham Hill.
Shortly after 5.10am on Friday 19 August 2016 police were called to reports of an armed robbery at a cash machine near Tesco on Thomas Street.
While the victim was taking money to the cash machine two men pulled up on a small motorbike.
The passenger, who was brandishing a knife, shouted at the victim to hand over the money.
The victim then threw the cash box and the men grabbed the box off the floor before driving off.
Both men were wearing helmets and face coverings and the motorbike had a black fuel tank.
Detective Constable Nick Boardman, from GMP’s city centre team, said: “A substantial amount of money was taken during this robbery and we are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed it."
“Thankfully the victim was not injured during this incident but this would have been extremely frightening for him."
“We are currently following a number of enquiries and we think a dye pack might have been activated. We would therefore urge anyone who is offered cash with dye stains on to please call us.”
