    Arrests In Good Samaritan Assault Case

    Detectives investigating a robbery in Leeds which left a man seriously injured have arrested three people.

    The two men, aged 24 and 36, and a 20-year-old woman were arrested in the Farnley area last night on suspicion of the robbery of a 38-year-old man in Gelderd Road on February 16. The three, who are all Polish nationals, are currently in custody.

    Officers have recovered a grey Jaguar X-type car that is undergoing forensic examination.

    The victim, a 38-year-old man, was driving along Gelderd Road towards the ring road in his red Toyota Auris when he saw a woman who appeared to be in distress.

    After he pulled over near to the Porsche showroom, two men smashed his windscreen. He got out the car and was assaulted by the men who stole his mobile phone.

    The suspects drove off in what was described as a low, powerful silver car.

    The victim drove to Tong Road, Armley, to find a phonebox and contacted police.

    He was treated in intensive care for serious head and facial injuries and is continuing to recover in hospital.

    The incident happened between 10.30pm and 11:40pm on Tuesday, February 16.
