Mark Burns-Williamson, West Yorkshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner, has launched the latest round of his Safer Communities Fund with £140,000 in grants available for ‘not for profit’ organisations.
Groups across West Yorkshire can bid for grants of up to £5,000 for projects to help keep West Yorkshire communities safe.
Successful projects need to address the outcomes and priorities in the Police and Crime Commissioner’s Police and Crime Plan which include improving road safety, tackling cyber-crime, anti-social behaviour and domestic abuse.
The Safer Communities Fund is financed with money recovered from criminals by West Yorkshire Police and prosecutors under the Proceeds of Crime Act. Since the fund launched in February 2014, over £2m has been granted to over 460 projects.
