A while ago, there was an investigation of a Rs 500 crore online ponzi scam allegedly done by Ghaziabad-based Webwork Trade Links. In recent news, the CBI has taken over the investigation with Shah Rukh Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui also named in the complaint!
The Bollywood actors have reportedly been called out as they had endorsed its portal, Addsbook.com. The complaint stated that Webwork Trade Links promoters, Anurag Jain and Sandesh Verma, duped people into the scheme using the two actors as brand ambassadors of their shadow firm.
It is said that the scheme collected over Rs 500 crore from around two lakh people. Whoa! As reported by Firstpost, the CBI, on directives of the Allahabad High Court, has taken over the investigation and re-registered the FIR against Jain and Verma for alleged cheating and violation of the Information Technology Act.
In the meanwhile, as we wait for further reports on the investigation, take a look and both the celebrities endorsing the scheme.
