Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is set to feature in a special tribute celebrating the extraordinary musical legacy of legendary Indian singer Asha Bhosle.
The project is being created by Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman, who has confirmed Shah Rukh's involvement and publicly thanked the actor for supporting the tribute.
The tribute is particularly poignant following Asha Bhosle's death earlier this year at the age of 92. Rahman has revealed that the project had actually been planned while the legendary singer was still alive, rather than being conceived following her death.
Bhosle's remarkable career stretched across eight decades and thousands of recordings, making her one of the most celebrated voices in the history of Indian music. She received honours including the Dadasaheb Phalke Award and Padma Vibhushan during her career.
Shah Rukh Khan was among the Bollywood stars who paid tribute following her death in April, describing her voice as one of the pillars of Indian cinema and saying her music would continue to resonate around the world.
The involvement of Shah Rukh and Rahman now brings together two of Indian entertainment's biggest international names to celebrate a singer whose music became part of the soundtrack to generations of Indian cinema.
