In the past few years, Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy has earned a name for herself in the art of creating documentaries that serve as a mirror of Pakistani society. Another documentary that has come up lately is about Qandeel Baloch who became an internet sensation. This documentary has reaped praise and has been welcomed globally.
“Proud to narrate my friend Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy’s latest film about Qandeel Baloch, the Pakistani social media star who was murdered by her brother in an “honor killing,” the post said.
Madonna communicated her anguish and grief over Baloch’s untimely death but at the same time was glad to see the positive change her sacrifices brought to society. In a post she stated "“Proud to narrate my friend Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy’s latest film about Qandeel Baloch, the Pakistani social media star who was murdered by her brother in an“honor killing". And it was added “The Pakistan government finally just passed the anti-honor killing bill, closing the loophole that allows killers to walk free! So good to see positive change happen in the world. Too bad Qandeel and so many others had to die first".
