Noori and Shilpa Rao’s vocals encapsulate the listeners in Coke Studio 9.
Paar Chana De is a beautiful indie-rock folk song composed and sung by Noori along with singing sensation Shilpa Rao from across the border. The acclaimed singer lends her voice to the soulful track, which has been produced by Strings, and leaves the listeners mesmerized with her earthy voice. The song is an oral tradition passed on to the brother duo by their grandparents; it’s a song that they’ve considered a family treasure since for a long time.
However, Coke Studio for Pakistan is a liberal and slightly indulgent philosophy, causing a kind of social revolution in the times when the country has and is going through a lot. In these times, it has become sort of a musical balance on the larger spectrum of politics.
“I hope there is more of this to come, for other artists as well. Coke Studio Pakistan was a beautiful experience not just because of the brilliant music but also because of the fact that it breaks barriers in our heads too. It didn’t feel like being in a different nation. Be it Hamza, Noor, Zebunissa Bangash or Quratulain Balouch, we all discuss similar things — what clothes to wear, what jewelry to match. I had done this before, and I was just doing it again,” the singer from across the border told Indian Express.
