A diver from West Yorkshire who was part of a team that helped save a group of boys from a cave in Thailand has been named in the Queen’s New Year Honours list.
Jason Mallinson, 50 from Huddersfield, was awarded the Queen's Gallantry Medal along with Christopher Jewell for exemplary acts of bravery.
The rescue operation gripped the world's attention in the summer after 12 boys and their football coach became trapped in flooded caves in northern Thailand.
Three other divers were made MBEs for their part in the dramatic rescue.
