A 15 year old girl who stabbed her sex abuser after he was spared a custodial sentence has been made the subject of a two-year youth rehabilitation order.
Bradford Crown Court heard that the young girl who cannot be identified for legal reasons gave evidence of the abuse she suffered when she was just 8 years old, identifying 56 year-old Zabhullah Boota as her abuser.
Boota whilst found guilty of sexual assault and inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity was sentenced to a community order with a supervision requirement. Boota was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register and was made subject to a Sexual Offences Prevention Order which includes a condition banning him from having any contact with the young victim.
However feeling let down by the Justice system her lawyers told the court the young girl turned up at his home and stabbed him before handing herself into a Police station. Boota survived the attack.
The 15 year old admitted a charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and Judge Jonathan Durham Hall QC imposed a two-year youth rehabilitation order along with a supervision requirement commenting that a custodial sentence would be “callous and cruel”.
