Vandals have damaged Albert Promenade in Halifax, ripping out two bollards and reportedly damaging a lamppost. A local councillor has described the incident as shocking and requested a review of CCTV footage to help identify those responsible.
A popular beauty spot in Halifax has been targeted by vandals, with two bollards ripped out and a lamppost reportedly damaged at Albert Promenade, near Savile Park Moor.
The damage is believed to have occurred overnight, prompting concerns from local residents and a response from a ward councillor.
Councillor Dave Mendes da Costa, who represents Wainhouse for Labour, has condemned the vandalism and called for CCTV footage to be examined in an effort to identify those responsible.
Bollards ripped out at Albert Promenade
Two bollards were torn from their positions at Albert Promenade, leaving gaps where they had previously stood.
A nearby lamppost is also understood to have sustained damage.
Following reports of the incident, Calderdale Council was contacted and temporary barriers were placed across the gaps left by the damaged bollards.
The lamppost damage has also been examined, according to the local councillor.

Councillor Dave Mendes da Costa said he had received messages from concerned residents about the incident.
He said:
"I'm aware of the shocking vandalism on Albert Promenade. Thank you to those who have been in touch with me about this."
The councillor confirmed he had contacted Calderdale Council to raise the matter.
He added:
"I have been in touch with the council about this and understand that the damage to the lamppost has been looked at and some barriers have been placed to fill the gap where the bollards have been broken."
CCTV footage requested
The councillor has also requested that CCTV recordings from the area be examined to establish whether those responsible can be identified.
He said:
"I have asked for CCTV footage to be reviewed to see if individuals or number plates of cars can be identified."
It has not been confirmed whether the incident was captured on camera or whether any suspects have been identified.
Appeal for information
Residents who may have information about the damage are being encouraged to contact Calderdale Council.
The incident has raised concerns about damage to public spaces, particularly at locations used by people visiting and walking around the area.
At the time of the original report, there was no confirmation of arrests or an estimated cost of repairing the damage.
