A Conservative election candidate has been suspended by his party after a tweet in which he allegedly suggested that homosexuality could be the result of being abused as a child.
Mohammed 'Harry' Boota, who is standing in the Clayton and Fairweather Green ward in Bradford, has been suspended pending an investigation into a comment he made on Twitter.
Sunrise Radio contacted Harry Boota who said that whilst an investigation was underway he would decline to comment.
A Conservative party spokesman said: "Mr Boota's membership has been suspended by the party chairman pending an investigation."
It is understood that he will still stand in the forthcoming election. Other candidates contesting the ward are Norma Russell (Green), Anjali Michelle Swallow (Labour), Steven Michael Cotterill (Liberal Democrat) and James David Vasey for UKIP
