Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a serious sexual assault in Rowley Regis on Monday (1 August).
A 19-year-old girl walked along Britannia Road and into Britannia Park around 11pm to 11.30pm when a man grabbed her from behind and threw her to the floor.
She was sexually assaulted, but after fighting back, she managed to free herself and run to safety. It is believed the attacker may have suffered minor injuries as the woman broke free.
The suspect is described as a mixed race or Asian man, of medium build and had brown hair. He was wearing a dark hoody, dark trousers and trainers.
Detective Inspector Michelle Thurgood, from the Public Protection Unit, said: ”Understandably, the woman has been left highly distressed by this incident and she is being supported by specially trained officers who are still in the process of fully gleaning all of the information and detail from her.
“At present it is understood that the woman asked a group of people for a cigarette outside the Britannia Inn before the attack. We are appealing for these individuals to get in contact as they may have vital information about what happened.”
Any witnesses or anyone with information can contact the sexual offences team at West Bromwich police station on 101.
Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111.
