Police are appealing for witnesses after a serious road collision in Colton on Monday which has resulted in the death of a 14 year old girl.
The incident happened at around 4:44pm on 30 May on Bullerthorpe Lane, Colton.
A blue Ford Focus estate had been travelling along Bullerthorpe Lane towards Colton, in the direction of the retail outlet. It collided with a pedestrian who was walking along the nearside grass verge in the same direction at the car.
As a result of the collision, a 14-year-old girl, from Rothwell, suffered serious injuries and she has now sadly passed away.
Sergeant Mat Tunney, of the Major Collision enquiry team, said "We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident, who did not provide their details to officers at the scene, to contact us.
"We are also trying to contact the driver of a vehicle that is thought to have been directly behind the Blue Ford Focus when the collision occurred and may have turned their vehicle around and left the scene prior to emergency services attending."
