A 27-year-old drug dealer from Accrington has been jailed for five years and seven months after police discovered 90 wraps of crack cocaine concealed inside a false deodorant can. Sadakat Ali was already on licence from a previous prison sentence for supplying drugs when officers raided his home.
An Accrington drug dealer has been sentenced to five years and seven months in prison after police discovered crack cocaine hidden inside a false deodorant can during a raid on his home.
Sadakat Ali, 27, was arrested after Lancashire Police officers executed a warrant at his address in College Court, Accrington, on 18 September 2026.
During a search of his bedroom, officers discovered a quantity of cannabis alongside a deodorant can that had been modified to conceal illegal drugs.
Inside the container were three packages holding a total of 90 individual wraps of crack cocaine, with an estimated street value of £900.
Drugs concealed inside deodorant can
The discovery was made during an operation involving officers investigating drug-related activity in the Hyndburn area.
Police searched Ali's bedroom and recovered the concealed packages of crack cocaine.
Officers also seized a knuckle duster, a number of designer trainers and two mobile phones.
The items were taken as part of the investigation into Ali's activities.
Ali was arrested at the property and subsequently questioned by officers.
During his police interview, he answered no comment to all questions.
Drug dealer was already on prison licence
Police confirmed that Ali was on licence following a previous prison sentence for supplying crack cocaine when the latest offences took place.
Following the search and his arrest, Ali was charged with several offences.
These included possession with intent to supply crack cocaine, possession of cannabis, possession of an offensive weapon in a private place, and acquiring, using or possessing criminal property.
Sentenced at Preston Crown Court
Ali appeared at Preston Crown Court on Monday 19 October 2026.
He was sentenced to five years and seven months in prison.
The sentence follows the discovery of the drugs and other items during the September police operation.
Police welcome significant result
PC Paul Wolstenholme, from Lancashire Police's Hyndburn Task Force, welcomed the outcome and said it demonstrated the force's determination to tackle drug dealing in local communities.
He said:
"This is a significant result for the local area and ensures that someone who was involved in the distribution of controlled substances in the community is again off the streets."
The officer also issued a warning to others involved in criminal activity.
He added:
"I hope this sends a very clear message to criminality within our community; we will never tolerate your actions and will be relentless in pursuing you."
Continued action against drug dealing
The case highlights the work being carried out by Lancashire Police to identify and investigate individuals involved in supplying illegal drugs.
Officers from the Hyndburn Task Force were involved in the investigation that led to Ali's arrest and subsequent prison sentence.
The force has reiterated its commitment to pursuing those involved in drug-related criminality and protecting local communities.
