Detectives are investigating after a man was left in a critical condition after trying to stop a vehicle involved in a collision in Birstall.
The incident happened at around 6.15pm on Saturday, 18 June, in the car park outside Marks and Spencers at the Junction 27 retail park. The 25-year-old victim has grabbed hold of the front passenger window of a Seat Leon as it has started to drive off at speed after being involved in a minor collision. The vehicle has been driven towards a parked Nissan Navara, causing the victim to collide with the vehicle and fall to the ground.
The victim was taken to Leeds General Infirmary where his condition is described as critical but stable.
Four people have been arrested in connection with this incident. Three 17-year-old males and a 51-year-old man, all from Bradford, have been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and released on bail.
Detective Sergeant Damian Roebuck, of Kirklees District CID, said: "We have already spoken to a number of witnesses at the scene but would urge anyone else with information about this incident who we have not spoken to already to please come forward.
"This offence has taken place in a busy car park and it was necessary to close the car park for a short period of time while we dealt with this incident. We would like to thank the many shoppers and shop workers affected for the patience they showed during this time."
Anyone with information about this offence is asked to call Kirklees CID via 101 or to pass information anonymously to independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
