Police investigating the attempted rape of a young girl in Openshaw have made an arrest.
Shortly after 2.00pm on Saturday 10 February, Greater Manchester Police were called to reports of an attempted rape off Kincraig Close.
A 10-year-old girl had been walking with friends before she became separated from them and was approached by a man.
This man led her to an area of wasteland where he sexually assaulted her, before attempting to rape her.
The girl fled towards a dog walker who raised the alarm and a police investigation was launched.
A 23-year-old man has now been arrested on suspicion of kidnap and attempted rape.
