Campaigners are to descend on Hebden Bridge over the weekend to protest against grouse shooting on Yorkshire’s moorland.
Ban Bloodsports on Yorkshire’s Moors (BBYM) and the League Against Cruel Sports (LACS) will march through the town on Saturday 11 August in the aim of encouraging Yorkshire Water to stop leasing moorland for the sport.
The campaign groups claim that ‘jaw-like’ traps have been found set on the utility company’s moors, aimed at preserving game birds from natural predators for shooting parties.
The protest comes in the wake of a decision by nearby Bradford Council to end grouse shooting on Ilkley Moor.
