Today would have been local MP Jo Cox’s birthday and to celebrate her life and legacy events will be held not only across the UK but around the world as well.
Last Thursday the Batley and Spenborough MP was brutally shot and stabbed to death as she went about her constituency business, serving her local community.
Today at 4pm events will be held in Market Square in Batley and Trafalgar Square in London remembering the young mother who believed so passionately in the good of this world, in the humanity of every person in every place.
Tributes have also been planned in New York, Paris, Washington DC, Auckland Brussels, Oslo, Buenos Aires, Beirut and Dublin.
Mrs Cox's husband, Brendan, tweeted: "Today would have been Jo's birthday. If you can, please join us this afternoon to celebrate her life & legacy."
52 year old Thomas Mair, from Birstall, has been charged with murder, grievous bodily harm, possession of a firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence and possession of an offensive weapon.
