Volunteers in Sheffield have organised an abseil event in order to raise money for local and international charity work.
The event, organised by the British Red Cross charity, will take place in October and see several volunteers abseil down Sheffield Hallam University’s Owen Building.
Funds raised will be used to support winter shelters for rough sleepers, as well as charity appeals in Syria and Yemen.
Speaking on the event, British Red Cross community fundraiser, Lucy Grey, said: “Whether you’re a seasoned abseiler or you’ve never done anything like it before, if you’d like to support the Red Cross’ mission to help people in crisis, we’d love to have you as part of the team.
“The exhilarating 120ft descent down Sheffield Hallam University’s Owen Building will help support the Red Cross’ services in Sheffield and across the UK, including emergency and disaster response, event first aid, refugee support, international family reunion, and the provision of wheelchairs.”
It will cost volunteers £10 to participate in the eight iteration of the abseil event, which will take place on 26 October.
