Bradford Special Constables Recognised For CSE Work

A team of Special Constables from Bradford have been recognised for their exceptional Child Sexual Exploitation work at an awards ceremony in London.

The team were short-listed in the Lord Ferrers Awards, an annual celebration of the work of Special Constables and Police Volunteers.

Eight Special constables were brought together to reduce the opportunities for offenders to find places to harm children, extensive enquiries and investigations identified premises such as hotels, take-aways and leisure facilities. Over 12 months, the team have volunteered over 1200 hours to the project, creating engagement and enforcement plans to tackle concerns at key locations with partners. Their ethos is engaging with the managers and employees in key businesses to educate them about the signs of exploitation, and help them to reduce the chances of their premises being used for grooming. Their work has included training to 185 hotels, regular visits to priority premises and training for taxi drivers.

Assistant Chief Constable Mark Milsom said; "I am delighted with the achievements of the team in coming first in these prestigious awards. Highlighting the innovation and dedication to protecting the most vulnerable in our communities.
