Bradford’s railways are set to be graced by a new fleet of electric trains, becoming one of the first places in the North to receive the services.
Starting from Monday next week, completely new Class 331 electric trains will be put in service, running on Northern lines between Bradford, Leeds, Skipton and Ilkley.
Constructed by Spanish company CAF, the construction on the first Class 331 trains began in July 2017, with the first finished model being unveiled in Zaragoza, Spain in January 2018.
The new trains will run services further afield by the end of the year, with plans in place for the new train to offer connections to York, Blackpool, Manchester Victoria and Chester.
The new trains were unveiled at Bradford Forster Square this morning, with a select group of people enjoying the trains maiden voyage from Bradford to Skipton and back.
