Bradford College boxing coach Mally McIver is hoping to triumph over opposition after being named a finalist in the 2018 Bradford Sports Awards.
He has been shortlisted for the Coach award in the Outstanding Contribution category of the annual awards that will take place on 8 March.
Mally, who is also on the staff at England Boxing and heads up the Bradford College and Police Boxing Club based at the college’s Trinity Green campus, is up against diving coach Joe Meszaroz, cricket coach Zaheer Jaffary and rugby league coach Mark Prescott for the coveted title.
The boxing ace won’t be the only Bradford College representative at the prestigious awards night as former student Mohammed Harris Akbar, who is coached by Mally, is nominated in the Senior Achievers category.
Mohammed is up against Wigan and England rugby league star John Bateman and England and Yorkshire cricketer Jonny Bairstow for the Sportsman trophy.
